Course Information
Classroom Instruction for Massage Practitioner I includes:
- The benefits of massage, contraindications of massage, and basic Swedish strokes.
- The origin and basic history of Massage
- How to set up a massage room professionally (clean sheets, clean bathroom, clean hands, etc.)
- Be introduced to body/mind connection, and how thoughts and emotions affect the body.
- Be taught proper steps in order to obtain a license and how to use ethics in client/employer relationships.
- Basic license laws for surrounding areas, the ethics of honoring established boundaries, discussion groups on sexual boundaries, and honoring the client/therapist relationship.
- How to put together a professional resume, how to interview for work, and where to locate massage work.
- Basic Swedish strokes and introduction to Reflexology treatment, Reiki treatment, Chair massage, shiatsu, and basic Yoga and breathing techniques.
- Skeleton system, superficial muscles and to locate organs and glands
Classroom Instruction for Massage Practitioner II includes:
- Therapeutic massage techniques including specific strokes for releasing the neck, and shoulders, and for low back problems.
- Application of hands-on techniques for working with pregnant and geriatric clients.
- Learn the difference between soft tissue flexibility and joint mobility.
- Introduction to deeper muscles and the origin and insertion of muscles and the tendon and ligament relationship.
- Learn basic physiology of the body
- Introduction to Oriental Arts and body mechanics including Yoga, Tai Chi, Thai, Sports and shiatsu massage.
- Receive a Reiki Energy Attunement
Classroom Instruction for Deep Tissue (Massage Practitioner III)includes:
- Areas of caution on the body
- Reading the body
- Refining your touch
- Biomechanics
- Stroke strategies
- Hierarchy of power: Thumbs, knuckles, fists, forearms, elbows
- Proper use of tools
- Therapeutic strategies for addressing common complaints and injuries
- Planning your session
